Pre-tan tips
At a minimum, it is recommended that clients shower, shave and exfoliate 24 hours prior to the spray tan session using a loofah, scrub mit, or scrub brush to fully exfoliate. Pay special attention to areas of the body that are prone to rough skin patches like hands, knees, elbows, ankles and feet. Refrain from using any products containing alcohol, oils, bar soaps, and any Dove products.
Moisturizing is also vital in spray tan preparation. Adding moisture to the skin will decrease the chance of discoloration, patchiness, and over development in drier areas upon application.
Coming right from the gym is NOT recommended as the sweat will create a barrier.
Waxing and spa services (pedicure, massage, facial) should be done at least 24 hours before your spray tan as the oils can leave a barrier.
DO NOT use deodorant, makeup, perfume, or moisturizers the day of your tanning session.
Deodorant generally has one of two consequences after a spray tan: blocking the solution from reaching the skin or turning the skin under the arms green. As neither are desirable, not wearing deodorant during the appointment is a necessity in preparation for your spray tan.
Bring dark, loose fitting clothing and flip flops.
All jewelry must be removed before being airbrushed.
You may tan in the undergarment of your choice or bathing suit (preferably a dark color).
Pull hair back high and tight on top of your head if possible.
Maintaining your tan is just as important as preparing for your tan.
